On Wednesday, July 22, 2015 I visited it last year opened National Military Museum (NMM). The museum was built on the site of the former Soesterberg airbase, which was used during the Cold War by the US Airforce. After the Cold War, the base was decommissioned and was the Military Aviation Museum built. The aircraft used by the Royal Air Force, were shown there. Last year, here is a completely new building constructed for the accommodation of the National Military Museum. The National Military Museum is a museum which focuses on the significance of the Dutch armed forces in the past, present and future with special attention to the collection of land and air forces, from the Army Museum in Delft and the Military Aviation Museum in Soesterberg, which are combined in the NMM. The NMM is housed in the Foundation for Defense Museums (SDM).
I spent a whole day in this museum walked around and found it very interesting. I found it a very nice building, that through the use of a black ceiling and black elements, combined with plenty of glass, gave a very special effect to the collection that was shown in. Memories of my own service with the Royal Air Force during the Cold War (class 1973/1974) came up. Of course, a photo shoot at ARS Website.
