 I think this is a very remarkable fragment. While the soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division march to the front in September 1944, a young woman cycling past them in a very nice way.

Flypast Lancaster BBMF 3 Oct 2017

Op Tuesday 3 October 2017 we participated in a unique tour of Joël Stoppels Battlefield Tours in cooperation with Leemans Speciaalwerken to the recovery site of the Lancaster R5682. The aircraft was hit by German anti-aircraft artillery in the night of 4 to 5 September 1942 and brought down by a German night fighter, the Messerschmitt BF110, which had taken off from Fliegerhorst Leeuwarden. The plane crashed in the nature reserve 'De Alde Faenen'. Today we made a beautiful boat trip through this nature reserve to the storage location. Highlight was the flypast of the Lancaster of the BBMF.

On 10 mei 1940 In the early hours of the morning people were startled by the sound of many planes. Germany had invaded the Netherlands. When the radio was switched on, the news broadcast by the ANP sounded with the first war reports and a proclamation by Queen Wilhelmina was read out.

D-Day 74

On 6 June 1944 the greatest amphibious operation ever took place: operation Overlord. The Allied invasion of nazi occupied Europe. Under the command of General Eisenhower strong forces supported by the airforce landed on the northern coast of France in Normandy. The British on Gold and Sword beach, the Canadians on Juno beach and the Americans on Omaha and Utah beach. This day is called D-Day. Today 74 years ago the Allied landing took place on the beaches of Normandy. With deep respect and gratitude we think of those brave young soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. We may never forget them. D-DAY was the most important day in our history.

Led by a volunteer of Museum vlb Deelen and his brother we made an interesting trip on 7 July 2018 in Park De Hoge Veluwe where many traces can still be found of the former Fliegerhorst Deelen. During the war part of the park was pulled at the airport to be built by the Germans and the bunker Diogenes was also built there.

Battlefield Tour Veritable, British Sector. on 1 July 2018. Its a battlefield tour in the area of Groesbeek, Gennep and Goch (Germany). Theme is operation veritable that started on 6 February 1945 to clear the westbank of the Rhine area. Partly by the Canadians and most by the British and Americans. We were in the former British sector, with the 15 Scottish Division at nütterden, the 53rd Welsh Division in the Reichswald, the liberation of Gennep by the 51st Highland Division, the capture of Goch by the 51st Highland Division and 15th Scottish Division. The fight for Yourshire Bridge and Winnekendonk by 3rd Infantry Division.

The Final Push Keep them Rolling Vismarkt Groningen during the commemoration of the Battle of Groningen 13-16 April 1945. On 12 April 2015 the participants of this tour with army vehicles from the Second World War, which drove from the Achterhoek to Groningen, following the trail of the Canadian liberators, gathered at the Fish Market.
