Today is 15 March 2021. It is over a year since the corona crisis broke out. The pandemic has far-reaching consequences for each and every one of us. We are forced to withdraw into ourselves. No more visits, no more going out, no fun outside. We have been in lockdown since October last year and since 23 January we have had a curfew from 9 p.m. to 4.30 a.m.

But also: no battlefield tours, No lectures, no member meetings. All planned activities have been cancelled.
Because there were no activities, I did not add much to ARS Website, where I reported on the battlefield tours we had participated in. Also, there were no activities to mention in the context of the remembrance of the Second World War. Yet I decided to keep ARS Website as a means of communication and information.
In this corona year, new ways of communicating have also emerged. Instead of meeting each other in person, we now make contact through video calls. From behind your laptop, you can have visual contact via Zoom, Telegram, Teams or Whatsapp. I have already done that with various agencies and it worked well for me. I think that communicating in this way is permanent.
In the past year, there were no battlefield tours. Nevertheless, I was able to follow a series of online events via the YouTube channel of JoŽl Stoppels Battlefield Tours. This was set up because the battlefield tours and commemorations of the Second World War had been cancelled 75 years ago.

In the period of commemoration of the Second World War 75 years ago, special thematic issues of various historical societies from our area appeared. I have red the stories about the war in the region.

On July 6, 2021, we visited Oosterbeek for the first time since the beginning of the corona crisis.
Now we dare to sign up again for a war walk through Slochteren on 21 August 2021
