On Saturday 22 September, for the 68th time, the commemoration of the Battle of Arnhem. In the airborne landings in Ede on Ginkel Heath jumped nearly 1,000 paratroopers. An airborne with many paratroopers is unique in the Netherlands. Every year Arnhem veterans come over from England for this commemoration. British paratroopers from the 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment from England, soldiers of the 11th Airmobile Brigade Netherlands, paratroopers from including Belgium, America, Italy and other NATO countries and dozens of Pathfinders jumps during the Airborne airborne landings from various aircraft including Hercules and Dakota. So many paratroopers and several aircrafts gave a picture of the Mass Drop as it has seen in 1944.
Ongeveer 80 Arnhem Veteranen uit Engeland waren aanwezig om deze herdenking bij te wonen.
Na de eerste Mass Drop begon om ongeveer 11.15 uur de Airborne Herdenking op de Ginkelse Heide bij het Airborne monument aan de N224. Deze herdenking bestond uit enkele toespraken, kransleggingen en het spelen van volksliederen. De herdenking eindigde met het indrukwekkende Highland Cathedral, gespeeld door de Harmonie Ede samen met de Pegasus Pipes and Drums Band uit Barneveld. Daarna, rond 12.00 uur, werden de luchtlandingen vervolgd.
