On Thursday April 9, 2015 we were at the opening of the double exhibition Batterie Delfzijl and the Battle of Delfzijl in the Muzeeaquarium at the dyke in Delfzijl. This was also the beginning of a weekend commemorating 70 years of liberation of Groningen and Delfzijl. Special guest was Canadian veteran Stanley Butterworth. Together with his brother Fred Butterworth served with the tank unit "The Fort Garry Regiment" and she participated in the Battle of Groningen. His brother was killed in a tank that was hit on the Paterswoldseweg, at the height of number 188. Prior to the opening of the exhibition we had an unforgettable encounter with him.
