![]() ![]() ![]() We were at a lecture by Ingrid Maan who told us about the limits she ran against while she was interviewing German war veterans; to make it clear she had also ventured to the task for the kids and signed her own limit. She interviewed German war veterans between 2009 and 2010 for the project Gelderland 1940-1945. It was a collaborative project between the State Archives of Gelderland, the Gelderland Library, Museum Deelen Airbase and the Airborne Museum 'Hartenstein'. Her book entitled "stashed away" not only describes the adventures around the Battle of Arnhem, but is much more extensive on the war theme. The veterans look back on their lives: they tell about growing up in Nazi Germany, their all-determining experiences war, reconstruction and the impact on their family. |
